It’s Begun

I’ve finally started my running blog. I’ve been meaning to do this for a couple of months now. A smart guy recently told me that the most important thing about starting a blog is simply creating the content. I’ll spend some time working on a less cheesy theme and jazzing up the site soon.

In the mean time I’m happy to be following through with this blog as well as in my training towards my two goals for this year: running a 21 minute three mile and completing (COMPETING in) the Men’s Health Urbanathlon in Chicago this October and raising money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation in the process. Read the story of how this mission started here.

I’ve been keeping track of my mileage, workouts and routes on MapMyRun.com. I’ll try and share my stats and runs here especially if I do something cool like joining  the Raven for a run (South Beach runner who has been logging eight miles a day for over 30 years!). MapMyRun is a website that allows you to, well, map your run for free. Thanks to my experienced marathon runner friend, Lisa, for telling me about it.  I currently have the site publishing logs of my runs to my Facebook and Twitter pages.

Well I need to get some ZZZ’s. I have again ambitiously set my alarm for a God awful early hour in hope of logging some miles in the morning. I’m an evening runner by nature and am trying to create similar conditions for my next race an off road 10 or 5K at Oleta in North Miami Sunday, June 21. I’ll choose which distance, the 5k or 10K , I’m running on the amount of  mileage I log this week. If I log 18.5 or miles I’ll run the 6. There’s also a half marathon but that isn’t in my sights yet. I’ll save my scientific training regimen (read: lack of) for another post.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll actually get up.  Wish me luck.
